Ever wondered what it would be like to work for a company that dresses its offices up like a kindergarten for adults? A workplace so colorful it reminds you of Charlie’s Chocolate Factory? A workplace that has a gym, monkeys, a hairdressing salon, a macaw that says ‘hello’ and candy dispensers?
Savology is that place.
You think I’m kidding, right? We have photo and video evidence.
Yesterday, VizRED went to the Social Media for WordPress panel at Saveology. We had a great time! Our very own Blanca Mejia spoke on the panel along with Patrick Barbanes, Karla Campos and Logan Lenz (who stood in for Anderson Curry who could not attend the panel due to bereavement).
On arrival we were greeted by a brightly colored macaw parrot in a very large aviary. We walked through reception to see a wide expanse of colorful chairs in all different shapes, a mini golf course, a fountain with fish in it and brightly colored photos of hot air balloons.
We were given a tour of the building before being taken to see the panel answer questions for beginner WordPress users and developers about using social media to brand and build business: the dos, the don’ts and the ROIs – the things we at VizRED understand very well.
We also enjoyed Australian fiction author Vaughn Alaine-Marshall who explained how social media made him famous with a CNN interview after a tweet caught their attention.
And the drinks!
Mustn’t forget the drinks. As usual with meetups, tweetups and social media and WordPress events, there was plenty of wine, beer and snacks for attendees to enjoy. The event began at 6:30pm and ended after networking and socializing at around 10:30pm.
Be sure to join WPMIA’s Facebook group to meet and chat with event organizers Jackie Jimenez, Rick Solari and David Bisset as well as us and other group members (we’re a friendly and helpful bunch) and to learn about new upcoming events. Remember to mention VizRED in the forum and at the events you attend; you never know, we might hear you and give you an outstanding offer.
Love great post!
Thanks Rick. That building took me right back to childhood. I could play in there for years. Good thing I was on my best behavior for Blanca or you’d have had a hard time getting me to leave. I should have played golf and grabbed a few candies while I had the chance.
I know I should of also! 🙁
Missed opportunities!
When VizRED is bigger, we’re going to have an office with a mini train running between chocolate fountains 😉
It was definitely a great event, really enjoyed presenting with Blanca and the rest of the panel. The Saveology building is amazing, I have to get me one of those hanging chairs : )
Would have loved to try the hanging chair but couldn’t get that woman off it 😉
Thanks Karla, ditto…enjoyed prsenting with you…imagine next time if it is 4 women on the panel..The poor men on our panel..we women wouldn’tstop talking:)
Are those pics on the VizRED page as well?
We’ll be adding a mix of these and the ones on the other camera to the VizRED page a little later so there won’t be any excuse not to get your tagging finger out.
Thank you for taking pictures! I didn’t get a chance!
You’re welcome. Take your pick of the ones on VizRED and I’ll send them over to you for use elsewhere. I’m going out soon so will probably send them later today or during tomorrow.
Mean that in the plural sense, by the way.
Thank you @Lee!
You’re very welcome 🙂
Michael Alcantara said you filmed the night, is this true? Or did you take pictures of Vaughn Alaine Marshall?
Snitch! 😉
Filmed some of it in intermittent stages with Blanca’s camera. I’d say about half of it. We’ll use some footage on our sites as clips. Will ask Blanca about the rest (it’s not mine to give or I’d offer use of it straight away). I did take photos and film footage of Vaughn.
If you could, send it on over! I’m on Dropbox jackie AT theinnovativeconsultant.com
Will do and send me any of Vaughn you may have to jackie@theinnovativeconsultant.com. I’m going to try and make it to your going away party, you’re leaving so soon!
Too soon! Thursday is coming way too fast. I will be back.
Vaughn Alaine-Marshall will be back soon, too 🙂
